Cool, healthy pupsicles your dog will love (and that are vet-assistant-approved!)
Summer wouldn’t be summer without a cold, refreshing treat. For Evan, it’s ice cream. For me, it’s a popsicle—or sometimes frozen yogurt if I’m feeling fancy. And for Zeus, our golden retriever-X? It’s one of these all-natural, homemade dog treats.
Zeus loves fresh fruits and veggies, and while we do sprinkle in some store-bought treats here and there, I like to make a few healthy, homemade frozen dog treats to keep things fresh, fun, and gut-friendly.

Like many dog parents, I started looking for ways to keep Zeus both cool and mentally stimulated during the hot months. That’s when we discovered the Woof Pupsicle—an interactive treat toy that holds frozen goodness inside a chew-safe mold. If you haven’t tried one yet, I highly recommend it. Not only does it slow down eating (which can reduce bloating and choking risks), but it also keeps your dog occupied and mentally enriched.
While you can make these in a standard ice cube tray, please be cautious. Ice cubes can pose a choking hazard—especially for enthusiastic chewers. Always supervise your pup during treat time!
Now for the fun part—Zeus’s top five summer dog treat recipes. These are easy to make, blender-friendly, and freezable. Adjust portions based on your mold size and your dog’s dietary needs. Don’t forget, you can omit yogurt or honey if your dog has sensitivities!
